Not money but simplicity in carrying out advertising

posted on 19 May 2012 in Business and Finance

Advertising can be a very complex affair for someone that does not have a background in it. As a result if one goes right ahead and delves into it one may end up doing more harm than good to the business. The exercise does not have to be costly and cumbersome affair and neither does it have to be complex if strive for simplicity. If you are a business that is seeking to expand by employing people and your budget and does not allow for a well publicized advert, you can always design your advert on a paper titled looking for staff designing using bright colors and post on the streets where you know you can reach many people. At the end of the day you may end up having many responses to your advertisement because it is not every one that buys newspapers but many people walk the streets at one given time. The challenge is to be creative in the way you present yourself in your poster and how catching you will be.

Daft Punk's Homework: Slick Production

posted on 11 May 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

I remember listening to this in 1997 - I was bowled over by the slick production of the tracks - the vocoders, filters - everything spacey in the mix. I've done some work in a number of London recording studios and I can tell you that his album has had more influence on production techniques than any other album since 1997. Since then the vocoder became much more popular and everyone was trying to pull of the "Daft Punk" style in their production mix. But never mind the production, these tracks were just sublime - the original ideas and melodies - really an eclectic mix of both rough analogue sounds and smooth digital ones - the rough with the smooth. I don't think there's been an original band quite like Daft Punk - not one who have been so bold to "invent" new sounds like this French duo - and there can't be a better compliment paid than that.

My First Year of Patio Gardening

posted on 9 May 2012 in Home and Garden

This year I decided to grow my own herbs on my patio in pots. I was tired of paying high prices for herbs in the produce stores and wanted to have my own organic herbs to cook with. I'd cleared up my mole problem with some mole traps, so felt that the timing was right. Plus, I like my garden, and even hold garden parties out here by erecting a few event tents on occasion - what better place to grow my own herbs!

I bought some 16 inch round pots, brought up some dirt and began my little garden. I planted basil, oregano, peppermint, spearmint, and dill. I also planted one pot of marigolds to help prevent pests (bugs) from coming and eating my plants marigolds are great natural pesticide. It is amazing how quickly I had my own delicious herbs that I could use for cooking. I water every 2nd day, depending on the weather and have been pruning once a week, to ensure that nothing goes to seed and everything keeps growing. I have had great success with all my plants and have been enjoying creating delicious things with the herbs from my garden.

Why Debt Management Starts at Home

posted on 8 May 2012 in Business and Finance

We've all heard of debt management companies, but for me, debt management starts at home. If you manage your own debts, then you won't need another company to help you do that. Taking fiscal responsibility is the name of the game here. A typical person has a fair number of creditors they owe money too. It might be utility providers, a landlord, the bank, whoever. You need to draw up a list of your monthly bills and total this bill. Then add up your income and total that. If the outgoings are more than your income, you have identified a problem (well done!). Your job is now to reduce the outgoings so they are less than your income. You CAN do it - it just needs organization. Now the hardest part: following through on this. Once you do that though, you'll feel a great sense of satisfaction - you've become fisacally responsible! And when you do find your savings building up, get out a pension calculator and work out how much you need to put away for your retirement.

My Wonderful Experience of Relaxing in a Hot Tub

posted on 3 May 2012 in Home and Garden

Many years ago a friend and I took a trip to Ocean City Md for a short vacation. We booked a fancy hotel for a few days and this hotel had health club facilities. I asked my friend If she wanted to check it out for awhile. I had never been in a hot tub before so I decided to try it. As soon as I got in it was amazing. I totally relaxed and just enjoyed it, forgetting about all my problems. It was a wonderful feeling and I wished I could stay in the hot tub forever. Since that experience was so overwhelming I decided to join a health club where I could always enjoy relaxing in a hot tub. I've since been on the look out for second hand hot tubs as I want one for my own home - the thought of soaking in a hot tub on a daily basis is a very pleasant one!

On The Psychology Behind House Buying

posted on 1 May 2012 in Home and Garden

Buying a house is a big ambition for many. As shelter is one of the basic needs for every human being, all of us strive to buy a house within our life span - something not only practical, but beautiful too. People feel very proud if they get their dream house in real life. Planning is very essential before buying a house. A few tips to be kept in our mind before buying a house is that first off, a house should suit your lifestyle. Secondly, what is your budget? Remember an older house may require a lot of work after you move in. You may need to hire the services of plumbers and electricians and buy in materials from plumbers merchants and DIY stores. Thirdly, you should know the market rate of the house. Fourthly, the location of the house and its layout. The fifth point is to check the interior of the house and the amenities. Has it had renovations made to it? e.g. perhaps new stair parts fitted to the staircase? This shows the previous owner has added value to the property.

My Favorite Way to Enjoy a Summer Day

posted on 28 April 2012 in Holiday and Travel

While I love to chill out under the hot summer sun - often under the pop up marquees my local pub has, I do like to be active too. One of my favorite ways to enjoy a great summer day is to take my bicycle out for a nice long ride along the waterfront in my city. When the weather is hot, and the clouds are gone, I love to do an energetic and long ride which spans from where I live to the busy downtown area of the city. This then leads into a beautiful park which resides along the coast of the bay. It is wonderful to stop here when the sun is beginning to set as it provides a great view of the colorful sky. I also love to visit my rented Dordogne farmhouse for around a month each summer. The warmer weather is great as well since the whole trip will be comfortable and relaxing with the heat of the sun. I love to take this trip many times during warm, clear days in the summer because it is a very relaxing trip, it is wonderful to see all the pedestrians walking along the waterfront, and it's also great exercise!

Do Not Move When You Use Our Phone Or It Will Cut Out!

posted on 25 April 2012 in Technology

The main problem with our phone is that it looks really sleek and fits in with the decor but it is the fourth one we have had of the same make and still we have no luck with it! Our cordless phone problem is getting on our nerves as when you stay still and use it, its fine, when you walk around with it however, it just cuts out! I have told our phone provider about this but they keep on telling me it must be a faulty phone that we have, does this mean the last three we have had have also been faulty?! I am so fed up of calling them when it cuts out and getting the same answer from them, I do not want another phone as my collection is growing each month and I seem to just be wasting my time when I call them as nothing gets resolved. I love the phone we have but I guess I need to just resign myself to the fact that I will never be able to wonder around the house on my calls, I just have to sit still and make my calls and stay in one place or it will just cut out!

People should listen to what others tell them

posted on 20 April 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

I have always told my cousin to be specific when they are looking for something very important. Why I tell them to be like this is to ensure that they have not ended up with the wrong idea and left the right one lying somewhere. When they want to look for a book, I tell them to search isbn number of that book if they would want to make it easy for themselves. If they search using the title, there are so many books that have such a title and if they have no idea about the person who wrote it, they will not have a pleasant time. My cousin has come to see the sense in what I always tell them and they are using the criterion to get what they want specifically. To all other people around the world who are looking for things online or offline, you should use this idea and you will see its benefits. Search for that book you want through its international standard book number and you will find it easily.

Summer and Fun Are Synonyms to Me

posted on 19 April 2012 in Home and Garden

Summer is my favourite season and I am certain that many more people share my preference of weather. There is nothing like a good, hot day of summer in which you have no homework to do, nothing to study, just chill out on one of my garden chairs and read a non-educational book! Or just have some straight out fun with your friends with a lemonade or a soda. To me those are ingredients to a healthy dose of fun. Many of my friends like using social networking sites for the most part of the summer. I disagree with them because summer makes a season that consists of three months that shouldn't be wasted. Even though I can't always convince my friends to go out and have some real fun I always find something fun to do. Spending time with your parents or brothers is also beneficial for relationships between members of a family.

Having an Unhealthy Lifestyle with Call Centers

posted on 19 April 2012 in Business and Finance

I work as a call center agent for the past 5 months. The job was not as easy as what I thought. It was just not as simple as answering calls and managing their problems, it was more to that. When you are starting as a trainee, you will end up having graveyard shifts. I was also getting sick most of the time because it took time for me to adjust on my working hours. On my sixth month, I was already planning to resign. I could not take this job anymore it has eaten so much of my time and energy. It seems like my life was only limited to my job and sleeping. If ever I would resign, I wonder how much would i get for unemployment benefits? Since our employer is an American, perhaps he could consider my reason for resignation. I am already risking my health and I could not bear seeing myself suffer more because of my working hours. For those who still plan to apply on call centers, think twice, you may be earning big but you are risking a lot from your life.

What I Really Like About Renewable Energy

posted on 14 April 2012 in Technology

I have a good idea on how I feel about clean energy. I really like clean energy and think it’s a good area to invest in. In my town, we actually have wind turbines and have a lot of them which provide clean energy and are a very good thing to invest in as it usually seems to pay the person back for their investment. Some houses here also have biomass boilers, fed with wood chips. I like them much better than non-renewable sources because it makes me feel much more green and much more eco-friendly and makes me feel like I’m helping the earth instead of hurting it. This energy I think is really a good idea and I think is really the new thing of the future to try and harness and tap into. I try and buy things that are eco friendly because I think it’s much better than trying to not be eco friendly and is worth the extra dollar to feel like I’m making a difference.

Velcro Helps My Hubby's Bike Rides

posted on 13 April 2012 in Construction and Industrial

My husband rides a motorcycle not just because he loves it but it helps on gas, and with the economy the way it is any help is welcomed. He takes his bike to work practically every day and using a rope to hold his cooler to the back of his bike. I was on line one day and found velcro hook and loop straps so that he can strap it more securely to his bike. I have never really been a big fan of his riding, because I worry, so when I gave the velcro straps to him to use he was surprised I was actually helping him make riding more enjoyable for him since I usually don't. I just let him know that if he was going to ride regardless of my fears I might as well make it an enjoyable experience. He went out and strapped the cooler to his bike with the velcro straps and they worked perfectly. He was happy, which makes me happy.

House Improvements: Family Fun Zone

posted on 9 April 2012 in Construction and Industrial

I live in an old farm house that was built in the late 1800s. It is a two-storey home with the top half never have been used for anything other than an attic. Now that we have a young child, my husband and I would like to remodel the entire top half to make a fun zone for our child as she grows up and for our entire family as well. Basically, the upstairs has 4 rooms with one room being really large. Our plans are to take the wall out between two of the other rooms so that on each side of the stairs, there will be two large rooms. On one side we want to make our daughter a huge bedroom that will be functional yet fun. We want to put bunkbeds in the room along with some type of futon couch that can be used for company. We want her to have plenty of room for toys and also want to build shelves for all of her books, games and movies. On the other side we want to create a game room for the entire family complete with a pool table, flat screen television, Playstation 3, table for playing board games or cards, and a snack area. The last room will be the bathroom complete with a bathtub and shower. We are really excited about this project and feel this will be a great idea for the entire family especially as our daughter gets older and begins to have friends over for spend the night parties and birthdays. We expect to do all the work ourselves - asides from a plan to have green roofing done to the property - and have a lot of fun during the process.

In Search of an Old Friend from High School

posted on 9 April 2012 in Internet Related

Some time ago in high school, I remember I had a classmate who made it to the Google list. Unfortunately, I could no longer recall how he got to the list but what I cannot forget is how popular he became because of that. Everyone in the campus recognized him. It was as if like he became a celebrity in an instant after that. Of course, not many of us know exactly how to be listed on google right? So it was easy to understand why it was such a big deal for everyone back then. By the way, the guy's name was Pete. After high school graduation, no one has heard from him anymore. Some of his friends say that Pete migrated to Canada with his family but others say he went on a sabbatical leave - whatever that means. Just the same, I wish to get in touch with Pete soon. Surely, he can give me some tips on how to make it on Google. That would be exciting, don't you think? Now I wonder, where could Pete really be?

A Girlfriend's Birthday Wish for Her Special Man

posted on 7 April 2012 in Technology

When Mike got sick, Cheryl was very worried. She knew that Mike was suffering from a serious illness and it was to get worse day by day. She could not imagine how her life is going to be like if and when Mike goes. Day and night, Cheryl takes time to pray for Mike to receive a miracle. She does not want to give up hope, even when all the others already have surrendered everything to the Almighty God. For Cheryl, for as long as Mike is still alive, a miracle can still happen. A few months ago, Mike left for the United States. His parents think that he has a better chance of surviving if he gets the best medical attention. But even while he's away, he still keeps in touch with Cheryl through phone and the internet. Cheryl has to contact Skype every now and then especially when she encounters problems with her connection. Mike promised her that he would be back in time for her birthday. Needless to say, Cheryl's birthday wish is not for herself but for Mike.

Picking the right material for your work is good

posted on 4 April 2012 in Technology

I have been in trouble for the past few days because of not reading instructions carefully. I have a habit of overlooking some things because I am used to working with them. Little do I know that some of these things that I am used to working with have some slight changes that need to be looked at keenly. If I see a message saying vodafone contact us, I would assume that the network wants me to call them. This is not so because this could mean that it is an advertisement that the network is passing across to the people. If I overlook this message, I would end up doing things that I was not supposed to do. It is vital to always follow instructions and take a deep look at things before you make a judgement about them. You could have missed something and then make a wrong judgements. Picking out the finer details of something helps come p with the right way of going about it. These finer details are put by someone there so that you notice them and get what you have to get from it.

The interfered private life of celebrities and family

posted on 1 April 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

Relationships can be very stressful for many couples as a result of choosing a partner who does suit their life style. I am one person who doesn't understand relationships. You find a couple of people who are so in love but the next day they are enemies. chris brown has not been doing very well in the search of his love. He once had a relationship that landed him to jail for battering his fiancee. Celebrities on one hand are disadvantageous when it comes to relationships. If something happens between the couple however minor it is, the particular issue is published in the national dailies or even in the blogs. This denies them the private life that they are supposed to have. Recently, brown has also been accused of theft scandal. He has been accused of stealing an iPhone but he denies the claim. Am only waiting to hear whether he will be sentenced to jail or he will be innocent. Brown has also not been a lucky guy in relationships because every now and the he has been having issues.
